Der erste Moment: Urwald. Unglaublich wie es anders wird, sobald man die Grenze übertritt.

Downtown Vanimo. Kaum gibts Restaurants oder Geschäfte. Die Stadt ist auf eine riesige Fläche verteilt. Alle haben einen grossen Garten, um sich selbst zu ernähren.

Downtown Vanimo. There aren't a lot of stores or restaurants. The city takes a huge surface coz everybody owns a big garden f self- sustaining.

Auch hatte ich das erste Mal Sego (Sacksack). Dazu wird das Mark einer Palme ausgewaschen. Die Stärke danach zu einem geschmackslosen Pudding gekocht. Rechts sieht man Alex (Rechts im Bild). Als ich began zu hitchhiken nahm er mich mit, und ich durfte bei ihm schlafen. Er warnte mich eindringlich vor PNG's Gefahren. Ein Beispiel ist ein Missionarspäärchen. Er ist verschwunden, sie vergewaltigt und getötet. Vorallem aber lernte er mich, vor den Städten Respekt zu haben. Der krasse Kontrast dazu waren die netten Leute, welche ich hier zuerst antraf.

Right side is Alex (right in the pix).I met him when I started to hitchhike out of Vanimo. I could sleep on his place and he warned me about the bad stuff happened in the last month. First of all he explained to me to be aware of the cities. This news, have been in the big contrast to the first nice people I met.

Weder auf Karten noch im Internet findet man Informationen über diese Strasse, welche ich dann nahm. Die Holzfäller haben sich von Vanimo bis Aitape und Wewak durchgeschlagen. Es gibt dort also wenig Verkehr. Unterwegs, musste ich mir nicht allzuviel Sorgen machen. Leute waren wie immer nett und sorgten sich um mich. Zum Glück. Es gibt oft keine Läden oder Restaurants. Und wenn, dann haben sie europäische Preise.

Neither on the maps nor in the internet, are information about this street. The woodfellers cut themself through the bush form Vanimo till Wewak. Theres a little bit of traffic to stopp. I met amazing people helping me with food and accomodation. This is in need, cos there ist no guesthouse or restaurant. And if there is, is has european prices.

Links ist eine andere Art der Esspalme. Gebackenes Sego ist Kokosenuss. Rechts erklärte ich meinem neuen Freund den Schnupftabak. Die Dose ist inzwischen fast durchgerostet, aber ich hab sie ja ein bisschen aufgefüllt in tibetisch- Yunnan link

Kein weiterkommen gabs für mich hier in Sera für einige Tage. Die Flüsse ware zu hoch, Brücken gibts keine. Gestrandet im Paradies. Die Leute waren der Hammer und zum Unterschied zu vielen anderen Ländern, welche ich schon bereist habe, sprachen viele Englisch. Ich lernte mit Pfeil und Bogen zu schiessen, welche Früchte essbar sind und was ihre Lebensphilosophie ist.

Das Leben läuft hier ruhiger und natürlicher ab. Ich erzählte von der Schweiz. Das grösste Staunen sah ich, beim Erklähren, wie in der Schweiz die Leute am normalen Tag NIE die Erde berühren. Sie wohnen, laufen, arbeiten auf Beton. Unglaublich! Ich gebe ihnen Recht. Wie weit vom normalen Leben sind wir eigendlich schon? 

I stuked some days  in Sera. The rivers have been to high and bridges doesn't exist. I have to wait in the paradise. The people where absolutely awesome but the big thing is: everybody speak english. I learnt how to shoot the spear and what fruits you can eat. We had a lot of discussion about our lives. One story shoked the people the most: Western people don't touch the earth anymore in their normal life. They live, work and walk on cement. Umbelievable! And I think THEY are right. How fare away of the natural live are we already?

Auch habe ich bemerkt, dass das Leben anders gewertet wird. Bei einem Unfall hat man schlicht kein Spital in Sicht. Oft wollen wir uns in der Schweiz gegen das Leben versichern...  Erst recht geniessen die Menschen das Leben, haben viel Zeit füreinander. Die Arbeit besteht darin, den grossen Garten in Stand zu halten. Ökonomie wie bei uns existiert nicht. Man ist selbstversorgend. Ich betrank mich mit Kokosnüssen und frass mich an den Früchten satt welche überall wachsen.

The value of life ist different here. If there is an accident, there isn't a hospital near. It can happen. Some people in switzerland want to be assured for everything... The people just enjoy the life and take a lot of time for each other. The biggest work ist perhaps to maintain the gardening around the house. Economics like in our country doesn't really exist. You just produce, what you eat. Great for me. I got drunk with coconuts and I've eaten all fruits I could find.

Persönlich: Alles ist anders. Obwohl ich ''stecken'' blieb, konnte ich es in vollen Zügen geniessen.

Personal: Everything is different. To stay longer then planned wasn't a big problem. I enjoied it fully!

Plan A: Weiter bis in den Süden, um dort ein Segelboot zu finden .
