Akte Buangfestival (singsing)

Ich wollte ja eigendlich nach Bulolo gehen. Da sprach mich Chris (ein Journalist) an: Es gäbe ein Festival in einem Nachbartal. Ich landete unerwarted als erster Weisser bei einem Super Fest. Oben sieht man den Ehrenempfang dazu.

I just wanted to go to Bulolo. Chris (The journalist) told me on the busstop, there's a festival going on in the neighbour valley. So it comes, I was the first white men on a big party. On the clip, you see the honour- welcome to the festival.

Das Festival war relativ klein und familiär und eingebettet in ganz grosse Natur.

Das Buangvalley ist etwa 2-4 Stunden von Lae weg. Jedes Jahr wollen sie nun dieses singsing durchführen, immer am 6 und 7 August.

The festival was quite small and familiar and in middle of big nature.

The Buangvalley is just 2-4 hours away from Lae. They want to organise this singsing now every year, always around the 6 and 7 august.

In der Nacht versammelten sich die Dörfer an ihrem eigenen Kochplatz. Die Stimmung war Hammer.Für jedes Festival wird ein Guesthouse gebaut für Touris und Gäste.

In the night, the villages came together on a cooking place. The ambience was amazing. For every festival they build a guesthouse for the Tourists and the guests.

Schweine und Jams (Wurzelgewächse) sind sehr wichtig.Auch wurde natürlich ein Gottesdienst abgehalten.

Pigs and jams (roots) are very importand. Of corse there was a church service during the singsing.

Die grössten und speziellsten Jams wurden ausgezeichned.

The biggest and most special jams have been honourd.

Es war ein toller mix von Komik, Singen und Tanzen.

It was a good mix of fun, songs and dances.

Ein Teil war es auch, zu zeigen wie traditionelle Spiele und Salzproduktionen funktionieren.

Its part of it, to see how the traditional games work out and how they can produce salt.

Ich hatte ne super Zeit mit den Leuten. Als Abschluss erklommen wir einen Berg beim Wasserfall. Danach musste ich mich von den neuen Freunden verabschieden. Schade, es gäbe noch Tropfsteinhölen und Hölengräber zu besichtigen. Ich fand es sehr entspannt, ein kleines gutes, organisiertes und friedliches Festival gefunden zu haben. Die grossen Singsing von Mt-Hagen oder Goroka sind ziemlich unruhig, teuer und gefährlich.

I had a great time with the people. In the end we climbed a mountain beside the waterfall. After this I had to say goodbye. This was pity, cos there would be a lot to see, a lot of mountain to climb, and special limestone and burrialcaves to see. It was very relaxed for me a good, organised and peacefull festival to see. The big singsings of Mt-Hagen or Goroka are quite turbulent, expansive and dangerous.
